Rain!

Over the past three days we have had 31.5 mm of rain. The bushfire threat has finally eased. All the fires except one have been contained. Finally we can start returning to a normal life.

I'm reveling in the damp, cold weather. Look at this lovely misty sky. This photo is taken from my front door.

I went looking for some puddles to show you but the earth is still so dry that all the rain is soaked away immediately. So I found a puddle in this bit of bark

and in this leaf.

And here are some raindrops!

The garden and the bush are already looking better and the air is heavy with the smell of eucalyptus. Bliss!

I love the rain, I love the cool weather. And I love the idea that the CFA folks can finally get a goodnights sleep.

There's nothing like the smell of fresh rain on dry, encrusted earth is there? Yay for the rain! So glad things have eased a little for you both. I do hope this is the end of the dry season for you.

I know the feeling! Last Sunday I posted photos of rain on my wooden verandah steps! Such a little thing with such incredible effect in our world of fire and recent earthquake on Friday in Melbourne too!

What a relief! I'm so happy you all got some rain. And the smell of eucalyptus in the air must be wonderful.

It's great that the fires are over & thank goodness for the rain. I love the smell of eucalytus too - in fact I was just standing in my garden this morning, taking in the fresh smell.
