Starting over

I started Chart D of my Snow Queen shawl and found that not only was I having trouble with making the nupps but I was also not happy with my stitch definition. I figured that my yarn was just too fine and inflexible. So yesterday I ditched the whole lot and started afresh using Bendigo Woollen Mills 2ply in Almond.

Now I'm much happier. I have yet to start Chart D with the new yarn but the few nupps I have made so far were much easier to make so I am hopeful that all will go well.

And while I was paying a visit to the frog pond I decided it was time to admit that my Maltese Shawl was never going to progress.

I started this shawl more than a year ago and although I have picked it up a couple of times since then I just can't get into it. So I admit defeat. The yarn needs to be used for something else and one day I will try the shawl again but with a different yarn.

Sorry to read that you had to start your Snow Queen again. What you've done now looks quite good, though (and very much like mine... I'll try to post a blog on it later today)
Sometimes one has to decide a project isn't going to work well - but it's always hard, isn't it? I do like your Maltese shawl, though?

Sorry about the "do over" but I have to admit I love the almond colour you picked for the second go round.

It is hard to admit that something isn't working when you have already put hours of knitting into it, but I think you will be much happier with a different project for that glorious yarn. Can't wait to see what you ultimately pick for both the yarn and new yarn for that pattern!

Oh, good to see you got in! I was just a tad to late to sign up for that KAL.
I'm very curious to see how that will unvold.

Maybe it's not the pattern of the maltese shawl, it might be the colour. Red has that effect on some people...
Red projects tend to stall with me too.
