FO and more

I finished my mother's felted clogs.



This is such a quick and easy knit. I used Bendigo Woollen Mill 12 ply Rustic. This wool felts a treat.

I also completed Clue 4 of the SSS. This time I managed to complete the clue before the next one appears on Tuesday.



I succumbed and joined the Cozy up KAL on Ravelry. I received some lovely yarn as a gift and just couldn't resist. I still have to complete my Spider's Web shawl - only 16 more rows to go. I need to knit a birthday gift in the next couple of weeks. And finally, I am madly looking at bag patterns for my swap pal in the Australian Bag Lady swap. There are just so many bags to choose from. I'll make up my mind soon.

SSS clue 3 complete

I finally managed to complete clue 3. Now at least I get to start clue 4 before the next clue appears. I love the way the pattern is revealed clue by clue.

Progress

I had a minor disaster with my Spring Shawl Surprise. Ten rows off finishing clue 2 I noticed that a mistake I had made at the start of the clue had bigger ramifications than I had thought. I decided I couldn't live with the mistake so I ripped the lot (because I hadn't used lifelines!) and started all over again. So, finally, clue 2 is done and today I've started clue 3.



The Spider's Web shawl is progressing well. I've just completed the first repeat of Chart D. This is such an easy knit in comparison with the SSS. I can knit this in front of the telly whereas the SSS demands total concentration.

FO: Cora the caterpillar

I finished Cora this morning. She's a present for little Kate.



This is the sort of knitting possible in the dreadful heat we've been having. I'm on count down to the end of summer. I've had enough!



Last night I started to knit a pair of felted clogs for my mother. She wanted to knit them herself but found the pattern too difficult so ripped the lot. In return for me knitting them she knitted Cora's legs. I thought that was a fair swap. This is how far I got last night.



Then this morning I discovered that the contrasting colour is Bendigo Woollen Mill's Classic and not Rustic. Classic doesn't felt! So the clog is no more and I'm now awaiting another ball of Rustic so that I can start all over again.

Lace and more lace

I can't resist lace and when its combined with a mystery, well then I'm a push over. On 1 January I joined to lace KALs. The first is the Spring Shawl Surprise and yesterday I managed to complete Clue 1.



This is the first of 12 clues and is promising to be a real challenge. I'm knitting with 2/20 merino in silver using 3.5 mm Knit Picks Options.

The second KAL is the Victorian Lace Today KAL. Here we had 4 options to choose from. I've decided to do the Spider's Web shawl. I've opted for the half hexagon and I'm knitting it in hand dyed Fibreworks 2 ply using 4.5 mm Knit Picks Options.

FO: Pretty as a Peacock

I finally finished the Pretty as a Peacock shawl. Yesterday I washed and blocked it.


This shawl didn't take very long to knit. It's a lovely easy pattern and a pleasure to knit.




I knitted this in Bendigo Woollen Mills Classic 5 ply in Plum using 3.5mm Knit Picks Options. If I were to knit this again in 5 ply I would use larger needles for a lacier look.

And the lucky recipient? My sister-in-law in South Africa. But she will have to wait until February before she gets it.
