Three little things and a big one

I made these little people for young Daniel. They are Witty Knits from Jean Greenhowe. Five year old Daniel really liked them but did ask that the little ghost should be put further away from him at bedtime because he was just a little bit scared of him.

I also managed to finish my Faroese shawl. I'm really pleased how well the variegated yarn worked with the pattern.

The shawl has ended up a bit bigger than I had anticipated but its very cozy and will be great to snuggle into on cold days.

I also managed to get it done just be for we leave for our outback trip on Monday. We will be gone for three gloriously warm weeks!

Wonders never cease

And here I have the proof.

After having set aside his cross stitching twenty odd years ago, my significant other has finally picked it up again!

We've been asked by the daughter of a friend to contribute a square for a friendship quilt she is making for her mother. I can't sew to save my life. In fact I loath sewing. So Bruce offered to do a cross stitch for her. Yesterday he started going through all his old patterns and has apparently become enthused again and last night saw him happily stitching again. Long may it last.

Colour and movement

I've started on my Faroese Shawl and I'm really enjoy this pattern. The Grignasco Toprint yarn is also a delight to work with. I'm enjoying the colour changes as I knit along.

I think this time that the yarn and pattern are working well together - at any rate its giving me great pleasure!

I've also made this water bottle holder from VK Bags Two. We are heading into the outback in a couple of weeks for a three week trip from Darwin to Alice Springs and I thought a nifty bottle bag would come in very handy.

I decided not to knit the i-cord button at the bottom of the bag and made an i-cord handle instead of a twisted cord handle.
