I have been wondering how to post about this devastating event. I find it hard not to be too emotional. The images and tales of survival we have been confronted with clutch at my heart and make me weep. I feel so sorry for the thousands of people who have been affected by these horrific fires.
I happy to say that we are safe. We had an anxious time on Saturday and left home in the afternoon when we heard about the fire at Redesdale. At that stage the wind was blowing in a northerly direction towards us. Once the change came we were able to go back home but what created safety for us endangered many others.
The fires are still blazing. Many people are still in danger. We can only hope that the winds will drop.

May the summer end soon for us.

I followed the link from your comment on Helen's blog. We watched the news in horror last night - it was all the more real to us as we had a wonderful holiday in Victoria 3 years ago - if you visit my blog you will see that one of the blogs I read is Mrs Martin's Quilt Shop. My thoughts are with you - keep safe. Regards Anne
So glad to see you are safe! After seeing the news here on television and in the newspapers I was really worried about you when I saw no blog posts. Keep safe! We're thinking of you here in Holland and hope thing change soon.
Glad to see you're okay - been thinking about you and wondering how you were doing. The images are horrendous, and I can't believe some fires have been started deliberately. Let's hope summer's over soon.
I too wanted to post on the bushfires here in Australia. It is all so surreal!
I have linked to your blog by mentioning your post. I would like the connection to be a sign of strength!
I was thinking about you all weekend, thank goodness you posted.

Amanda,
So glad that you are safe. I have been worrying about you. I've been watching the news on the fires. How horrible.
Stay safe.
Hugs,
Phyllis
I read your blog frequently but I never posted a comment before. I think I know you a little from the Hanami KAL in 2007.
Today I watched the horrible scenes from the bushfires on the television and I felt I had to tell you how glad I am that you are safe. I will be thinking about you and follow your blog.
Metta from Sweden

Take Care,

You have been on my mind all weekend. The news footage of the fires added to no posts from you had me deeply concerned. I was so glad to see your post today and to know that you are safe.
I keep trying to push my winter your direction.
Stay safe!
Thanks to everyone for their kind and considerate thoughts - I greatly appreciate it.
My prayers are with all.
Stay safe Amanda. Love Helen
You all are in our thoughts.
I am so glad you are safe and so sorry for those poor folks in harms' way. I cannot even begin to imagine. Take care of each other and remember that good will come from the ashes...
